People like you and me like to play games every day, playing games is just like a hobby for us. But what if we can become more than a player, what if we can make gaming as our career.

Indian parents don’t know that we can make gaming as our career, they believe gaming is just a waste of time and money. Maybe because you are not taking gaming seriously and wasting your valuable time.
In the US, UK, China they take gaming seriously and organize e-sports just like Olympics, players from all over the world participate there and win huge prize money.
Today in this article I am going to tell you about gaming career what are the different degrees, different course, graduation programs or diploma courses you should do.

Who should come in this field?

If you want to join this field then you should know that there are two major sectors,

1. Technical sector and
2. Entertainment sector

First, we will learn about the technical sector, how you can prepare yourself for the technology sector and what are the things you should know in the technology sector.

Under the technical sector, there are two major fields which are,
1. Technical field And
2. Non-technical field
The main work of the technical department is to design the game by programming, coding, etc.
Non-technical department focus on character animation, scripts writing, they decide levels and what should be included in the game, all these things are decided by the non-technical department and reported to technical department to make the game that way.
So you must decide first whether you want to go in the technical field or for non-technical filed.
If you want to make your career in gaming then there are various posts and designation you can go for like,
  • Game designer
  • Character animation
  • Scriptwriter
  • Game developers
  • Game tester
  • Audio manager etc.

Now let’s know about Eligibility:-

If you want to join after 12th then the basic eligibility is that you should pass 12th in any stream with a minimum 60%. It doesn’t matter whether in arts, science or commerce.
There is no age limit in this field you can join after 10th, 12th or graduation or whenever you want.
If you want admission in certificate course you can join after completing your 10th standard,
Undergraduate courses require you to complete your 10+2 with any stream from any recognized board.
And for postgraduate courses, you should have at least a bachelor’s degree or related discipline.

Required Skills

  • Platform skills:- it means that you should have at least some basic knowledge about the platform whether computer or mobile you are going to working in, because if you are going to make a computer game and don’t have knowledge about the computer then you won’t fit in.
  • Logical thinking:- If you have a logical thinking mind then you can make the game levels easily, and also you will be able to work in a logical manner.
  • Problem-solving:- If you can solve the problem by yourself you don’t need to hire someone else to solve your problems. many times it happens that do are stuck with a problem and you have to wait until you solve the problem if you have a problem-solving mind then you can do it by yourself and continue your work.
  • Communication skills:- if you have good communication skill then you can present your ideas before your superiors or seniors, good communication will help them to understand your idea better.

The duration of these certificate and diploma course is 12 to 18 months and the fees range from 40k to 80k depending upon the type of college or institution you are going for.

  • B.Sc. Animation & Gaming
  • Bachelor of Science in Animation Game style and Development
  • Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech) – Computer

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Animation
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Graphics, Animation
The duration of Bachelor’s course is longer than a certificate and diploma course from 1 to 3 years and the fees range from 80k to 2lakh depending upon the college or institution.
List of Master Courses:
  • Integrated M.Sc. in multimedia system & Animation with Game Art
  • M.Sc. in Gaming
  • Master of Science (M.Sc) in Game style and Development
  • Master of Science (M.Sc) in Multimedia and Animation
The duration of the Master course is usually 3 years or more and the fees range from 2 lakh to 5 lakh depending upon the college or institution.

Jobs and salary

Many Indian companies like Elections Arts, Digital Chocolate, Games2Win, Zinga, Arura recruit freshers and experienced employees for various posts like Game Artist, Game taster, Game animator, concept designer, Game host, Game programmer, level artist, and the salary varies from 15,000 to 5,00,000
If you are a beginner your salary will be less but as you gain experience and knowledge your salary will increase you will also get a bonus if you perform well.
You can also become a game tester if you are good at playing games and finding glitches in the game then you can opt as a game tester who play the game before their release and find glitches and bugs or suggest something better in the game. Big companies will give you a handsome amount of money just to find those bugs in the game.

Entertainment sector

If you don’t want to go to the technology sector you can go to the entertainment sector. You don’t have to do any courses you just have to invest some money and go for live streaming or become a blogger.
In live streaming, you have to do nothing but to play the game as you play every day but have to stream it online so that other players who like that game can watch it
What do you need for a successful Livestream
    1. A good voice:- your good voice will keep your audience engaged for a long time and if you have a harsh and rude voice then nobody will want to watch your stream.
    2.  A good personality:- a good personality always attract people so you should maintain a good personality to have a large audience.
    3. Schedule:- you need to be very disciplined about your live streaming because some people may like to watch your streams daily and if you don’t maintain a schedule then nobody will be engaged to your live streaming.

  1. Communication:- you should read and reply to the chats of the people who are watching your streaming this way you will know the problem in your streaming. And fix those problems.
  2. Good internet connection:- you should have a good internet connection so that you can deliver a better quality of streaming to your audience.
  3. Watch and learn:- there are many YouTubers out there who do live streaming daily watch them and see how they keep here audience engaged how the reply their chats and learn from them
What you need to do a live stream
You need to have a good computer with good RAM and GPU which can run games smoothly, a good internet connection for uninterrupted streaming, a good mic so that everyone can hear your voice clearly and a good camera to record in good pixels.
How can you earn from the live stream
If your Channel reaches the minimum requirements of AdSense then you can start monitoring your channel with Google AdSense. AdSense gives you a very good amount of money to put ads on your channel.
Other then that you can earn from sponsorship if you play good games then some gaming companies can sponsor you games to play in your streams.
And donation or membership is another good way to earn money, you can ask for donations to make your streaming better.
Super chat is another good way to earn money. Sometimes the viewer pays some money through super chat to make your chat read properly or to ask for a shout-out.
